But where is Meghan Markle from? Is she Canadian?

Meghan Markle, born Rachel Meghan Markle, was born in Los Angeles, California on August 4 1981.

She grew up in Hollywood, a neighbourhood in LA famous for being the centre of the US film industry.

She attended Northwestern University in Illinois, United States, where she studied theatre and international studies.

For six years, from 2011 to 2017, Meghan lived in Toronto, Canada.

This was while she played Rachel Zane in US legal drama, Suits.

Although the series is set in New York City, it has always been filmed in Toronto.

Where does Meghan live now?

Meghan lives with Prince Harry in Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace.

The couple live near next door to Kate Middleton and Prince William in the palace grounds.

While Meghan currently holds US citizenship, she will become a UK citizen when she marries Prince Harry in May this year.

However, it was revealed today Meghan will pay a huge sum due to visa rules.

Meghan shares Harry’s love of travel, and the couple have already visited Botswana, Monaco and Tromso in Norway together.

It is so far unknown where Prince Harry and Meghan’s honeymoon will take place.

The engaged pair are due to take a pre-Valentine’s Day trip to Edinburgh in Scotland together.
