Haas F1 reveal pictures of 2018 car in online launch including first look at Halo system

“Bigger. Better. Faster. Lighter,” the message accompanying the launch video read.

And Haas driver Romain Grosjean could not hide his excitement at the big reveal.

“There she is…” Grosjean wrote on Twitter.

“Can’t wait to drive it.”

The car is the first to incorporate the controversial “Halo” driver protection system, which has a piece of bodywork shaped over the cockpit to provide extra protection and avoid accidents such as the one that saw Felipe Massa struck in the head by a flying piece of suspension in 2009.

Its inclusion has been widely panned with drivers complaining about the lack of visiblity while driving and fans downbeat about being able to see less of the driver in the cockpit.

Haas have attempted to minimise its visual impact by making it black over a black cockpit interior and similarly dark area on top of the driver pod.
