eBay: Rare 2017 50p coin STILL in circulation selling for £2,850 – do YOU have one?

eBay is full of rare and collectable items, with new treasures listed on its books every day.

One new item listed on the site today is a Beatrix Potter Tom Kitten 50p.

Listed for a five-day auction, the coin was put on the site by eBay user “mattschofield001”.

The attractive coin features an engraving of Beatrix Potter’s beloved character, Tom Kitten.

Listed this afternoon by the Peterborough-based seller, the coin is described as a: “Tom Kitten 50p Coin – 2017 – RARE.”

The coin has a starting bid of £2,850, but is available for a lower price, with the seller adding the option for potential buyers to “make an offer”.

Designed by Emma Noble, the coin is part of a series of 50ps made to commemorate the life of British author, Beatrix Potter.

The Tom Kitten coin was part of the second series of coins, minted in 2017.

The Tale of Tom Kitten is the eleventh of Beatrix Potter’s little tales, a tale which sees Tom and his sisters dressed in their finest clothes ready for a visit from their mother’s guests.

The kittens end up making a mess of their clothes and lose them to a passing puddle duck.

The first series of coins were released in 2016 and feature other famous faces such as Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Jeremy Fisher.

According to the Royal Mint, the Beatrix Potter 50ps are incredibly popular with collectors, with many of the coins selling out on the official website.

But despite its high selling price and eye-catching design, the Tom Kitten 50p isn’t actually that rare.

In 2017, 9,300,000 of the coins were minted, making it actually quite common.

However, the coins still prove popular with buyers and sellers alike, with many of these coins ending up on eBay.

Yesterday, another Beatrix Potter 50p was listed on eBay for an impressive £1,851.

The coin was part of the 2016 series, and pays tribute to Beatrix herself.

The coin’s title reads: “Rare and sort after (circulated) collectible 50p coin Beatrix Potter 1866-1943 (sic).”

Giving more away about the coin, the item’s description details: “Rare and sort after (circulated) collectible 50p coin Beatrix Potter 1866-1943. Offers considered and postage is Free and tracked to all countries… (sic)”

The coin has been listed for charity, meaning all proceeds from the sale will go to the seller’s chosen organisation, which is Cancer Research.
