Box sets and bed… a perfect day

A poll of 2,000 adults found one in 10 wants nothing more than to belt a tune out in the shower, and 15 per cent would sit down and binge on a box set. Three in 10 would kick back and watch their favourite film and one in five would indulge in retail therapy and top up his or her wardrobe. Twenty-nine per cent would make time for a family trip out, while 36 per cent would hope to find enough money to make the day unforgettable. According to the study, a perfect day for most would involve waking up at 8am then heading for a crisply made bed with fresh linen at 11pm. One in 10 parents admitted he or she would spend it solely with his or her partner. Four in 10 believe listening to music is key to a perfect day, with some of the most popular songs including Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On A Prayer, Happy by Pharrell Williams, and Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

But most selected Queen’s hit Don’t Stop Me Now as the song they would most want to hear on their dream day.

The top movie pick was Dirty Dancing, followed by Mrs Doubtfire, Star Wars and Love Actually.

A fifth would spend time in the pub and 22 per cent would stay inside, in their pyjamas.

Thirty per cent would go for a long walk but just eight per cent would spend time in the gym.

Come teatime, a third would opt for a roast dinner and 28 per cent would pick up a pizza – but only a tenth said they would choose a salad.

As the sun goes down, more people would choose to stay in with a good book than head out for a night on the town.

Endless money permitting, one in four would immediately hire a window cleaner, nearly a third would employ a chef and a tenth would like a personal stylist to pick out clothes for them every morning.

The OnePoll study was carried out for lottery firm Lottoland.

A Lottoland spokesman said: “It’s not unusual to wish a film like Groundhog Day could come true, especially if the day we were repeating had lots of great things happen.”
