Arsenal 1-0 Burnley LIVE: Premier League score updates as Alexandre Lacazette nets

Arsenal vs Burnley LIVE updates

  • First Premier League match of the weekend is underway
  • Alexandre Lacazette hands Arsenal the lead
  • Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Luiz, Sokratis, Monreal, Ceballos, Guendouzi, Willock, Aubameyang, Nelson, Lacazette
  • Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Barnes
  • Nicolas Pepe on the bench for Arsenal

34: And just as I say that Reiss Nelson gets down the lef-hand side and fires at Nick Pope who can only parry the ball into the danger area.

Burnley scramble the ball away though.

33: Dani Ceballos is the bright spark for Arsenal and he is really impressing.

Gunners fans will love him if he plays like this every week. A bit of a lull in proceedings with neither team managing to make their final ball pay.

25: Arsenal look to break again but Nacho Monreal is caught offside when he really shouldn’t have been.

The Gunners had a three-on-three situation if that went right. And it was very close.

22: David Luiz with some impressive defending which turns defence into attack.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles speeds down the right wing and his cross is put behind giving the Gunners another corner.

It’s a short corner routine which doesn’t quite go to plan.

17: What a save that is from Bernd Leno.

Arsenal fail to deal with the ball and Ashley Barnes looks like he’s scored the equaliser but somehow Leno saves from point-blank range.

The flag did go up afterwards so it wouldn’t have counted but that’s still some save.

ARSENAL 1-0 BURNLEY | ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE

12: GOAL! Another fine corner from Dani Ceballos and Alexandre Lacazette does brilliantly to power home from close range.

Nick Pope is beaten by the pace and it is the perfect start for Arsenal.

11: Ben Mee is penalised for a handball and Arsenal have a free-kick on the right wing about six yards from the byline.

Ceballos takes it and it is cleared out but the ball is headed back in as Alexandre Lacazette forces a fine save from Nick Pope.

9: Arsenal work the ball well down the right wing and win a corner. Superb whipped corner from Ceballos which causes all sorts of problems.

Matthew Lowton clears with Arsenal attackers all round him.

5: First bit of positive intent from Dani Ceballos. He attacks the Burnley defence impressively before letting rip a curling effort on goal.

It ends up a good five yards wide of Nick Pope’s goal though but the Arsenal fans give Ceballos a good round of appluse for his play.

2: Burnley have the first shot as the ball falls to Erik Pieters outside the penalty area but his hafl volley goes harmlessly wide.

Decent start for the Clarets though.

12.20: Oh dear Joe Cole. He’s just said Burnley is in Yorkshire.

The former Chelsea and England man has not covered himself in glory there.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche says he believes Burnley have been unlucky against Arsenal in recent years and VAR could make the difference.

Let’s hope for a game free of that sort of controversy shall we?

12.10: Arsenal will want to give Thierry Henry a birthday present with a dominant win today.

The Gunners legend turns 42. What Unai Emery would do to have a player of his ilk in his ranks.

20 minutes until kick-off at the Emirates now.

12.00: Arsenal have given an update on Mesut Ozil.

Apparently the midfielder is absent as he was feeling ill earlier this week.

Ozil had missed the match at Newcastle last weekend because of ‘security fears’ after he was targeted in a car-jacking.

11.50: Burnley have left Danny Drinkwater out as he is lacking match fitness and ahead of the match Sean Dyche was asked about the prospects of the midfielder staying for the whole season.

He said: “We are not looking at that at the moment.

“I think Danny knows he needs to get himself going again, he is hungry for the chance and the opportunity.

“He knows he has to work for it, he is been in for a few days now and he knows the group and the demand here and the training level and I think he is enjoying it.

“First thing first is to get him fit and well and then see if he can forge his way into the team and then we can take it from there.”

11.40: So the headlines from that are David Luiz is set to make his debut for Arsenal with Dani Ceballos also starting.

That means Nicolas Pepe will have to wait for his first Premier League start and there is still no Mesut Ozil in the squad.

As for Burnley Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood start in what looks like a 4-4-2.

11.25: At his pre-match press conference Unai Emery discussed whether he would hand Nicolas Pepe his Arsenal debut.

He explained: “I am going to decide on Friday because now is a small difference for my decision about the player.

“It depends how they will be tomorrow in the training.

“But Pepe is training with us, is improving with us, is knowing us, our idea, our style, is able to understand his team-mates better.

“Physically also, getting better. He’s more close to helping us than he was at the beginning, after giving us an impact during the match.”

GOOD MORNING!

11.15: Welcome to our coverage of Arsenal against Burnley from the Emirates as another Premier League weekend begins.

Team news is out imminently with Unai Emery set to make a number of key decisions.

He shocked with his team selection last week but Nicolas Pepe could make his debut and Alexandre Lacazette could return this lunchtime.

The Gunners beat Newcastle lin their first fixture and will want to make it two wins from two.
